1K Sea Swim to Raise Funds for Bray RehabCare Defibrillator

30/10/2012

Funds raised from the event will go towards purchasing a defibrillator for RehabCare’s three day services in Bray. This is a great opportunity for swimmers who have been training indoors during the Winter season to start back in the open water.

Rebecca Power, Community Services Manager, RehabCare in Bray said, “We provide services to nearly 40 adults with disabilities at our day services on the Boghall Road. People take part in a range of programmes and activities that are based on their needs and interests. For some it may be learning how to cook or developing their sign language, while for others it may be improving their IT skills or making our environment ‘greener’. We are active members of our local community through partnerships with local bodies and weekly activities with other groups in the community.”

“We would like to purchase a defibrillator for the centre and so we’d ask everyone to sign up to swim 1K, with every euro raised going towards a great cause. The event promises to be great fun and an opportunity to catch up with old friends as well as making some new ones. So come on and join in the feelgood factor.”

The Rehab Swimathon offers the people of Wicklow an opportunity to give something back to their community and RehabCare. For more information and to register, call Kerry Houlihan on 01 2100 521 or email fundraising@rehab.ie.
