Behind the Scenes Trip to RTÉ

23/05/2014 Behind the Scenes Trip to RTÉ

Two lucky people who use RehabCare’s services Sheila O’Connell and John Dunne went on a star studded trip this week when they travelled to RTÉ studios in Donneybrook, Dublin and met a host of famous faces! Sheila from Ballyfermot Resource Centre and John from Kildare Resource Centre were accompanied by Donna Hughes, Programme Facilitator with RehabCare. All three got a tour of the TV studios and saw where The Late Late Show and Winning Streak are filmed. They also got a tour of the newsroom and the set of Fair City. Along the way they met a host of stars including 2fm presenter and ex Westlife member Nicky Byrne, RTÉ radio 1 presenters Derek Mooney and Joe Duffy as well as newscaster and star of Celebrity Masterchef Aengus Mac Grianna.

Sheila said, “It was a lovely day in RTE, the best part was getting to sit on Bella’s couch on the set of Fair City. I was excited to meet Nicky Byrne from Westlife and Derek Mooney chatted to us for a while. I have been a fan of Fair City for many years and we received RTÉ goodie bags full of CDs and DVDs. I sat in the chair on Winning Streak and in Ryan Tubridy’s chair on the Late Late show but the studio is much smaller than it seems on TV. I hope to go back again soon!”

John said, “My visit to RTÉ Studios  was very interesting and enjoyable. I loved seeing the Late Late Show set, Fair City set and the Sunday Game set. I really loved sitting in Des Cahill’s chair on the Sunday Game set. All of the sets were laid out very well. Overall it was a great experience, well worth visiting
and I would encourage everyone to visit the RTÉ Studios. I would like to thank RehabCare staff for this opportunity.”
