04/04/2013 RehabCare Attendees in Tullamore Win First Prize in “Come Dine with Me” Competition

People who attend the RehabCare resource centre in the Tanyard, Tullamore recently took first prize in a “Come Dine with Me”- inspired dinner competition. Other local centres to take part in the event were RehabCare’s Autism Day Service in Tullamore, St Hilda’s Day Service in Athlone, and Teach Mhuire Day Service in Tullamore. St Hilda’s Day Service in Athlone came in as a close runner-up in the competition.

Two people from each service took part in the competition and each hosting party had a special theme and had to prepare a two-course meal. The Tanyard’s theme was Chinese and Liam Cornally and Cathal Molloy, two of the participants, cooked up an Asian feast, with authentic Chinese curry and rice. Liam Cornally, said: “I enjoy the competition because it’s good to meet friends and I’ll be able to see them again in their own centre and what they do there”. Cathal Molloy, added: “I love playing the mouth organ and this competition helped me meet other people who are musical”.

The other dinner themes on the day were Mexican, Thai and Italian, with participants keen to show off their culinary skills.

Other community groups in the local area wishing to get involved in future “Come Dine with Me” competitions are encouraged to contact Anne Fingleton, Programme Supervisor, RehabCare Day Resource Centre, Tullamore on 057 9352314.
