RehabCare Specialist Day Service Celebrates 10 Years

07/07/2014 RehabCare Specialist Day Service Celebrates 10 Years

The ‘Lean ar Aghaidh’ day service in RehabCare Bray celebrated 10 years of supporting young adults with complex disabilities to engage in meaningful and fun filled activities through centre and community based programmes.

The service, which is funded by the HSE currently caters for 4 young adults with unique and complex challenges. The people who use this high support day service were joined by family, friends and staff for a celebratory anniversary BBQ on July 4th.  The event marked the success of the service and celebrated the difference it is making to people’s lives. Stephen Grant, aka DJ Stevo provided great musical entertainment on the day.

Rosemary Peacock, whose daughter Jennifer uses the service said, “It’s great to be marking 10 years of the Lean ar Aghaidh service. Jennifer is the newest member to Lean Ar Aghaidh and joined last year. The care that she receives here is fantastic. We are so impressed with the progress she has made in such a short time.  The staff are great and they respond so professionally and sensitively to Jennifer’s individual needs.  It’s lovely to be able to socialise with the other families here today as well and share experiences.”

Rebecca Power is the Manager of the three day services that RehabCare delivers in Bray and speaking at the celebration said, “We wanted to mark the 10 year anniversary of the Lean ar Aghaidh service as its success is testament to the hard work and commitment of many people. We work closely with our stakeholders which include our clients, their families and the HSE, so it is important that they are here today to join in the celebrations. For us, success is seeing people happy to come and engage in our services and make progress with their journey through life.  The consistent positive feedback and support that we receive from our clients, their families and our funders with regard to the quality of service makes our work very rewarding.”

In partnership with the Health Service Executive, RehabCare provides three high-quality day services in Bray with over 40 adults accessing the services in total. Programmes are developed around the needs of the clients through their person-centred plan and can include supports in relation to independent living, personal development, community integration and employment in the community.
